Ramoneda Joins First Citizens Bank As Chief Information Officer
July 10, 2012 – RALEIGH, N.C. – First Citizens Bank announced today that Dede Ramoneda has joined the company as Chief Information Officer (CIO).
With more than 30 years of technology experience, Ramoneda comes to First Citizens from Progress Energy in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she served as CIO and vice president of information technology (IT) and telecommunications for the past decade.

As First Citizens’ CIO, Ramoneda is responsible for developing and executing the bank’s technology strategy in support of its business lines. She oversees all aspects of the company’s processing and network infrastructures and service delivery capabilities. She is based at First Citizens’ Data Center on Tryon Road near downtown Raleigh.
Prior to being named CIO at Progress Energy in 2002, Ramoneda was vice president for IT systems delivery and was responsible for leading the technology integration that successfully combined Carolina Power & Light (CP&L) and Florida Progress Corporation.
Before joining CP&L in 1996, Ramoneda was CIO and director of information technology for the Delta Queen Steamboat Co. in New Orleans, La. Prior to that, she spent 12 years in systems integration consulting and practice management with a large consulting firm.
Ramoneda holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial management from Louisiana State University. She received a Master of Business Administration degree from Rollins College, Crummer Graduate School of Business, in Winter Park, Fla. She has also completed financial management courses at the Wharton Executive Education Program, University of Pennsylvania.
A resident of Raleigh, Ramoneda is actively involved in the community. She is currently a board member of the North Carolina Technology Association and chair of the Green Technologies Council. She also serves on the board of the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County. She is also a member of the strategic advisory board of the College of Engineering, Computer Science Department, at North Carolina State University.
